Where I live now, actually. The Hospital Lobby

Luckily, I feel very welcome here, anytime. It's where I'm sitting now with my laptop. There's a Starbucks on this level; the prices are more or less exactly as at home. Up on the balcony/mezzanine floor, there is a McDonalds, and a place called Au Bon Pain. Mc's prices are about 30% less than at home. While the Big Mac's are about 15% smaller. I hate it that you always have to get a soft-drink. Don't like em anymore! The coffee at Au Bon Pain is about the best to be found anywhere in Bangkok, as far as international style is concerned. It treads that fairly fine line (of mine) between too strong and too weak.
That's Starbuck's, against the window. Speaking of soft drinks, one of my favorite things (I remember) about Bangkok 1.0, was the way you'd get a coke (to go) on a hot afternoon, in a little plastic bag, with ice, tied at the top and a straw inserted. As I recall, that genuine coke, about 8 ounces, used to cost about 30 cents. (all circa 1983.)
